There is some preliminary evidence to suggest that PLE may reduce oxidative damage caused by UV light. The consequences of unprotected exposure to UV light can be severe. Physical barriers and sunscreen in the forms of creams and other topical products have been demonstrated to reduce acute and chronic consequences of UV exposure. PLE may be an aid to photo aging but should not replace reputable sun protection products.
